Histrionic personality disorder is a mental illness characterized by serious attention seeking(notice me or i die),emotional over reaction and suggestibility. The need to over dramatize impairs relationship and may cause depression but they are highly functional people. Sufferers have tendency to be manic.
TRAITS OF THIS DISORDER
-Always want to be center of attention.
-Dresses provocably and seductively,flirtatious behaviour.
-Overly concerned with physical appearance
-Constantly seeking assurance or approval from others.
-Acting thearetically and funny as though acting infront of an audience with exaggerated expressions and emotions and yet still lacking sincerity.
-Doesnt think before acting,easily gets bored with routine,abandons projects and have problems maintaining a relationship.
-Might attempt suicide just to gain the attention of others.
-Makes rash decisions and shows no concern for others
-Sensitive to criticism and has short tolerance for fustration.
People with this disorder have unstable emotions,distorted self image and thier self estemm depends solely on the opinions of others and not a true sense of self worth. These people might do well in professions that has to do with creativity and imagination but will have dificulty with tasks that has to do with analytical thinking and this condition occurs more in women than men.
